Shannett Thompson – Kingsley Napley LLP

Shannett Thompson is a Partner in the Regulatory Team at Kingsley Napley. She started her legal career, working in HMRC, Insolvency Team, ahead of her training contract in the NHS.

Shannett provides specialist regulatory advice across a number of sectors, including professional services. Her diverse client base includes businesses, care homes, regulators, professional bodies, students, and individuals. She is adept at working across a number of regulatory schemes. Given she works both on behalf of regulators, and regulated individuals, she has a unique perspective on issues which can arise, including in investigations.

Shannett has built up a significant niche in advising investors and businesses in the medical cannabis sector. She has been at the forefront of providing advice in the area of cannabis-based medicines, CBD and related licensing issues.

A passionate advocate for Diversity & Inclusion, Shannett regularly speaks at national events and contributes to leading publications. She won the Chambers Outstanding Contribution Award for D&I in 2021 and is an Accredited Interviewer committed to inclusive recruitment.

• On behalf of a nurse in respect of an appeal by the Professional Standards Authority;
• For a care home following adverse inspection reports and a notice to vary its registration by the Care Quality Commission;
• Successful defence of a doctor following dishonesty allegations relating to prescribing;
