Donald E. Gies, III is an Oklahoma licensed attorney, focusing primarily on cannabis law – representing hundreds of patients, growers, processors, and dispensaries in a range of matters across the state. Donald formed Gies Law Firm in the back of a dispensary in a storage room and quickly expanded t o several attorneys with multiple office locations by parlaying his extensive experience within San Francisco Bay area medical marijuana industry and provides a unique understanding of complex issues touching cannabis law.
Donald received his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2019. During l aw school, he received multiple Dean’s List honors, completed an externship with Oklahoma County Early Settlement Program as a State Certified Mediator, served as an intern to the Oklahoma County Drug & Mental Health Courts and volunteered at the Oklahoma County Public Defender’s Office in the Capital Trial Division.
He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management from Oklahoma State Spears School of Business i n 2009, where he was a member of the OSU Track & Cross Country Team. Upon graduation from college, Donald moved to the San Francisco Bay Area with his lifelong best friends, submerging themselves in the cannabis industry, including legislative and policy work for marijuana activist Richard Lee at Oaksterdam University in Oakland, while working on ballot initiative Proposition 19 campaigning for the decriminalization and legalization of medical marijuana in California.
Donald resides in Oklahoma City with his law school sweetheart, Cassity, where they raise their blended family of six children.
